Foxconn strikes deal with suicidal Chinese workers that could result in Michael Bay’s best action scene to date.
SHENZHEN—After a standoff with 300 employees locked in a suicide pact with one another, Chinese manufacturing giant Foxconn has talked them off the ledge, and onto another: the set of Michael Bay’s next installment of the immortal Transformers series. “Let’s be honest… working conditions at our factories aren’t going to get any better,” our Mandarin affluent intern translated from a statement sent by Foxconn. “American consumers won’t pay a dime more than they have to for an Xbox 360, and that means hundreds of thousands of Chinese will live a life without hope, and happiness.”
Our source at Foxconn told us there was no way to talk the 300 out of suicide, forcing the company to instead try and make a penny or two off the impending tragedy. “(Michael) Bay has always been known for real, authentic action sequences,” Foxconn’s official spokesperson wrote us. “Sometimes, that means real people need to get hurt. We called him right away to strike a deal.” According to a source familiar with the matter, the ‘300’ will perish in the final battle sequence of Bay’s upcoming Transformers sequel. As restitution, the families of the doomed employees will all be put in the credits, though probably only on the region 4 DVD version.
