20 million year old Antarctic lake made of Glaceau Vitamin Water, scientists reveal.
VOSTOK—Russian scientists carefully drilling toward a 20 million year old underground lake just outside Vostok Station in Antarctica were both surprised and disappointed today when they finally reached its surface. According to a field report, researchers expecting to unearth ancient life forms instead discovered supercooled green tea-flavored Vitamin Water, also called “Rescue.” While the findings certainly weren’t as groundbreaking as the science community hoped they would be, NASA’s chief scientist Waleed Abdalati claims that they’re still monumentally important. “To think that Vitamin Water could have existed millions of years before any human walked our planet… this is huge,” he said in a recorded statement.
The Russian scientists who made the discovery first noticed something was amiss when they extracted a light, yellowish liquid from the underground lake. “We figured it would be clear as crystal,” Valery Lukin, head of Russia’s Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute recalled. “What we got instead was a liquid that both looked and smelled exactly like Vitamin Water.” A risky taste test confirmed Lukin’s suspicions. While the day’s mission is over, Vostok scientists aren’t done yet. “We’ve already discovered Vitamin Water. We can only imagine what other urban fad beverages are hiding down there.” Shortly after the report was made public, a spokesman for Coca-Cola announcement that the beverage giant was already in the process of filing a lawsuit against Glaceau. “We didn’t pay $4.1 billion for a naturally occuring phenomenon,” she added.
